Depends on which style you are trying to achieve. Gel will dry your hair out but give you a firmer hold. Wax will not dry your hair out but may feel sticky and can build up in your hair. Cream is probably somewhere in the middle.

really it depends on the way that you would like to stlye your hair, Honestly ( because I am a proffessional) It doesn't matter. If you want to hard hold with spikes and to comb it up in the front - a wax... If you would like it to just have a little hold or for it to say back or down - a gel ... if you want just a little hold with some shine and something that won't wear it down then use a cream. and for a brand ( American Crew) that stuff smells good and won't fake when it dries. beleive me I do this for a living .
