What's worse doing to your hair..using gel or a hair straightener?

If its chemical straightener, it depends what kind. I used to use a kids straigtener on my hair cause i wanted the lowest level of damage. There are relaxers that actually dont do much damage at all. Kinda like a hair dye. And if you find that relaxer that has the extra conditioners and so forth, those are good. Use them. GEL HAS TO BE USED EVERYDAY WHERE A CHEMICAL RELAXER IS ONLY ON YOUR HAIR FOR A MAX OF 25 MIN THEN RINSED OUT AND YOU CAN DEEP CONDITION AFTER THAT.

Now if its just using a blow dryer and flatiron, there are some electrical flatirons that actually seal in some of the moisture so it doesnt do much damage either.

Just stay away from the gel. When you put gel in your hair, you 1. put alchohol in it that dries it out. 2. You have to wash it out everyday to avoid those white flakes and so dry your hair out more with shampooing. 3. theres a good chance that you may not have to wash your hair every day. And by that i mean some people's hair gets its essential oil over a longer period of time than other people. If your hair doesnt get oily after one day you havent washed it, dont wash it. you dont need to.

There is a family that lives with us and one of the girls absolutely has to wash everyday cause her head is really oily. Her sister however, has thicker hair and so the oils cant even begin to coat the roots until 3 or 4 days later. So if she washes everyday, she ends up with dadruff cause of the dry scalp.

Alot of black people dont need to wash their hair but once a week at the most because their hair is so curly the oil can barely get out of the pore. This oil that your body produces is needed. It feeds your hair and its balaced to your body's chemistry in order to give what you specifically need.

Yeah so to answer your question, i think straightening is better, either by chemical or physical.

Do you mean hair straightening chemicals? If so the chemical treatment would be worse. There are hair creams to calm hair. It would work better then gel.

hair gel because u are putting chemicals in your hair. hair straighting is better and slower but oh well
